PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Garut Regency Government is exploring agricultural cooperation with Damyang City, South Korea, to increase garlic and strawberry yields.

Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin received the South Korean delegation in the Pamengkang Room, Garut City District, 21/8/2026.

The meeting discussed the application of cultivation technology to improve the quality and quantity of production of Garut's two leading commodities.

The delegation was led by Mr. Chang along with Shin Min-Ho, Hal Young Chul, Minho Seo, and Park Jae-Chang.

Abdusy Syakur Amin said the collaboration was the first step in developing agricultural technology with the Damyang City Government.

According to him, superior technology and varieties from South Korea can help Garut farmers increase productivity and the quality of their harvests.

"We want to improve the quality and quantity to be even better," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.

Garut has the potential to develop strawberries, while South Korea is known for its large strawberry varieties with a sweet taste.

In addition to strawberries, Abdusy Syakur Amin is promoting the development of garlic to accelerate local production and support the community's food needs.

The development of garlic is in line with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia to achieve national food self-sufficiency.

Practicing Lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University (Unpad), Dr. Chung KyongHo, appreciated the Garut Regency Government's reception of the South Korean delegation.

He hopes the discussions will result in high-quality garlic and strawberry cultivation projects that will improve farmers' welfare.

This collaboration is expected to open access to new agricultural technologies while increasing the productivity of superior commodities for farmers in Garut Regency.
