PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Deputy Regent (Wabup) of Garut, Helmi Budiman officially opened Environmental Cleanliness, Sanitation and Waste Management Training at Tourist Destinations. This event, which was initiated by the Garut Regency Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud), took place at the Ranbrango Hotel & Resort, Ranbranco Village, Tarogong Kaler District, Garut Regency (21/11/2023).

In his speech, the Deputy Regent of Garut highlighted the problems of waste, sanitation and environmental cleanliness as important issues. According to him, 60 percent of waste comes from households, especially from leftover food and drinks.

Helmi emphasized the importance of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW which encouraged Muslims not to throw rubbish carelessly, especially leftover food. He detailed that the waste problem does not only occur in Garut, but also in other areas.

Helmi also noted that abroad there are already regulations that provide fines for those who do not finish their food in restaurants. Meanwhile in Indonesia, especially in tourist attractions, he is encouraging similar initiatives.

"We haven't had any pioneers in our tourist spots, that is, eat, throw it away (the rubbish is there), but it's not there yet (writing) finish the food, this is a lesson for us, this rubbish has become a burden until it is there today, " he concluded.
