PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - The Bogor Regency Government has officially launched an electric bus service as part of its efforts to provide environmentally friendly public transportation to the public. The launch was conducted by Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto during Car Free Day on Jalan Tegar Beriman, Cibinong, on Sunday (April 5, 2026).
Rudy Susmanto explained that the presence of this electric bus is a concrete step by the Bogor Regency Government in supporting the central government's program to save energy and reduce dependence on fuel oil.
"This electric bus is 100% electric and 100% free to the public during the trial period. This is our first step towards providing environmentally friendly public transportation in Bogor Regency," said Rudy.
Initially, the Bogor Regency Government is operating four electric buses, which are currently undergoing a trial period. If the public response is positive, the fleet will be expanded and operated permanently through a Buy-the-Service (BTS) scheme, with subsidies from the central and local governments.
The initial route of the electric bus service connects the Bojonggede area to Sentul City with several strategic stopping points, including AEON Sentul and the TransJakarta bus stop in the Sentul Circuit area.
This route was chosen due to the high traffic volume at Bojonggede Station, which reaches around 50,000 daily users. Many of them are workers traveling to and from Jakarta by commuter train.
Through this electric bus service, it is hoped that people who get off at Bojonggede Station will no longer be dependent on private vehicles to continue their journey to the Sentul area and its surroundings.
"With this bus, people getting off at Bojonggede Station will no longer need to use private vehicles because the government has prepared more environmentally friendly onward transportation," he explained.
The electric bus trial period is planned to last for the next three months. If public enthusiasm is high, the Bogor Regency Government plans to increase the fleet and expand service routes to other areas.
In addition, the Bogor Regency Government is also reviewing the development of environmentally friendly tourist transportation in the form of double-decker buses with open roofs which are planned to serve the route from Cibinong to the Puncak area.
Rudy Susmanto hopes that these various steps can be the beginning of a transformation of the transportation system in Bogor Regency towards a more modern, efficient, and sustainable mobility concept.
"Through environmentally friendly public transportation, we want to provide more convenient services for the public while maintaining air quality in Bogor Regency," he concluded. (PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS TEAM / BOGOR REGENCY DISKOMINFO/rka)
