PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java DPRD has not yet discussed the plan to change the name of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati Majalengka.
Previously, the proposal to change the name of BIJB Kertajati emerged again after the Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin received a letter of recommendation from the public and figures regarding changing the name of the airport that the people of West Java were proud of to Abdul Chalim Airport.
Member of Commission IV of the West Java DPRD, Daddy Rohandi, said that BIJB Kertajati had been proposed from the start to be renamed Abdul Chalim, who had just been declared a national hero.
“It's okay for that name to appear. "That was the proposal from Majalengka and coincidentally Abdul Chalim is a local man," said Daddy, Wednesday (6/12/2023).
"In principle, as one of the 120 members of the West Java DPRD, I support whoever is used in the future," he added.
Daddy admitted that he had not discussed the proposed change to BIJB's name because the DPRD was still focused on airport operations.
"I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but there hasn't been any discussion yet. "But it's more about the operation of Kertajati airport that is the first thing we are working on," he said.
Previously, the Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, admitted that he had received a proposal to change the name of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati.
Bey said the proposal for BIJB to become Abdul Chalim Airport came from figures and the people of Majalengka Regency.
Abdul Chalim himself is a figure from Majalengka who was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo as a national hero. (Parno)
