PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government provided awards and assistance to hundreds of farmer groups to support food security and increase urban agricultural productivity (25/6/2026).

The aid was distributed in commemoration of the 54th Agricultural Service Day held by the Bandung City Food Security and Agriculture Service.

The activity carried the theme "Cool Farmers, Great Farmers" and involved farmer groups from various areas of Bandung City.

Head of the Bandung City Food Security and Agriculture Service, Gin Gin Ginanjar, said that Agricultural Service Day is a momentum to show appreciation to farmers who maintain food production amidst limited land.

"This Agricultural Krida Day is a day of appreciation and recognition for farmers who have worked hard to build food security and maintain sustainable agriculture," said Gin Gin.

According to him, the commemoration is not only a gathering place for farmers, but also a means of showcasing various superior agricultural products from the City of Bandung.

Various products from farmer groups, the Buruan Sae program, and the results of the Cheap Food Movement were also exhibited to the public.

The Bandung City Government also provides assistance in the form of agricultural facilities and infrastructure to support increased production.

The assistance provided includes seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and support for Buruan Sae activities for beneficiary groups.

Currently, there are around 45 active farmer groups operating in the conventional agricultural sector in Bandung City.

In addition, as many as 555 Buruan Sae groups contributed to strengthening family food security and urban agriculture.

Gin Gin explained that the agricultural sector in Bandung City is still dominated by rice and horticultural farmers who continue to produce to meet the needs of the community.

The city of Bandung also still has around 699 hectares of active rice fields which support regional food production.

"There are still rice farmers and they remain productive. There are also horticultural, fisheries, and livestock farmers. But the most dominant are rice and vegetable farmers," he said.

Through these awards and assistance, the Bandung City Government hopes that farmers' enthusiasm in maintaining food availability will continue to increase.

Ongoing support from the government is expected to strengthen food security and maintain the sustainability of agriculture in Bandung City.
