Supporting National Defense, PT INTI Collaborates with Ammunition and Weapons Manufacturers

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (PT INTI) is collaborating with the only private manufacturer of ammunition and assault weapons in Indonesia. As another effort to implement technology in a wider scope, especially in relation to realizing the confidentiality of the domestic protection industry.

This collaboration was carried out through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Main Director of PT INTI Edi Witjara and the Main Director of PT Komodo Armament Indonesia (Komodo Armament) Dananjaya Trihardjo.

PT INTI Senior Vice President Corporate Secretary, Delvia Damayanti, said that this collaboration would be specifically for collaboration in the production of assault weapons and ammunition for law enforcement and the military, in order to support the Indonesian government's efforts to create independence in the field of national defense. The target is that this collaboration strategy can provide weapons and ammunition needs for the domestic market.

"With the installed production capacity for assault weapons that have obtained certification of suitability test results from the Indonesian Army Research and Development Service, it is recorded at 5,000 assault weapons per year. "Meanwhile, the capacity for production of polymer ammunition, magazines, propellants and other supports reaches 2 million units," said Delvia, Tuesday (5/12/2023).

Delvia targets that this production collaboration will be the forerunner to the revival of domestic industry, especially in relation to supplying national protection needs.

As a form of commitment to this collaboration, the two companies have carried out working visits to each party's production facilities in Bekasi and Bandung. The plan is that this production collaboration will be carried out at the production facilities of both companies.

PT INTI signed another memorandum of understanding. Among other things, synergy to build production facilities for various products made from steel and stainless steel materials which was initiated through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Procurement of Steel and Stainless Steel and the Development of Electric Vehicles between Acting. According to Delvia, the two parties will also explore forming a joint venture company for electric vehicle manufacturing in Indonesia.

"Quoting data from the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Outlook: Supercharging Tomorrow's Mobility, the electric vehicle business in Indonesia has a market potential of more than US$20 billion or around IDR 299 trillion. "So there is still a very wide business area available to explore," he said.

Apart from the cooperation plans for the production of weapons, ammunition and stainless steel products, PT INTI has also collaborated in the procurement of electronic devices and information technology. This strategic agenda was realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Provision of Electronic Devices, Telecommunications and Information Technology in the Muhammadiyah Environment between the Deputy Executive General Manager Sales & Marketing of PT INTI (Persero) Gema Alfarizi Deri and the Chairman of the Yogyakarta Special Region Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership Muhammad Ikhwan Ahada .

"The plan is that through this collaboration, PT INTI will provide the needs for electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, access points, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), e-KTP Reader, telecommunications infrastructure and information technology, and other electronic device related matters, in the Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Region," he said.

The hope is that PT INTI's involvement and collaboration with various companies and institutions across lines will encourage the realization of domestic technological independence, and increase Indonesia's competitiveness on the global stage, especially in mastering technology for the local market.
