With Support Flowing in, Maung School is Prepared to Become a Breakthrough in West Java Education

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Superior Human School (Maung) program, initiated by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, has received widespread support from various groups, from academics and universities to the school's alumni community. This program is considered a strategic step in developing a superior generation based on local wisdom.

Prof. Isma Widiaty, a representative of the SMAN 3 Bandung Committee and a lecturer at the Indonesian University of Education, expressed her appreciation. She described the Maung School concept as an extension of the Garuda Transformative School, which is designed to accommodate students with above-average intelligence.

"The Maung School concept is a development of the Transformative Garuda School, as a breakthrough to facilitate children with above-average intelligence potential," he said, after the Preparatory Work Meeting for the Implementation of the Maung School at the West Java Education Office, Bandung City, Wednesday (22/4/2026).

He hopes Maung School will be unique while remaining rooted in Sundanese culture, starting with improvements to the student admissions system, strengthening teacher human resources, the curriculum, and infrastructure. "We fully support this program and hope it can be realized in 2026," he added.

Prof. Ahmad Yani of the Indonesian University of Education expressed similar support. He viewed the Maung School concept as an educational innovation that emphasizes local wisdom as a key strength.

"We see the Maung School concept as extraordinary because it emphasizes local wisdom as its main strength," he said.

UPI, he continued, is ready to contribute significantly to curriculum development, facilities, and learning concepts. "We don't just provide narrative support, but are also ready to make real contributions," he emphasized.

Prof. Fatimah Arofiati Noor, a representative from the Bandung Institute of Technology, also expressed her institution's commitment to improving the competency of students and teachers in West Java. "We are committed to working together to improve the competency and capacity of students and teachers in West Java," she said.

He hopes that this collaboration will produce a superior generation who are ready to become future leaders.

Support also came from Padjadjaran University academic Drg. Erli Sarilita. She believes this program is crucial for improving the quality of human resources, particularly in the STEM field.

"We hope this program will produce a highly competitive generation, ready to continue their education at universities both domestically and internationally. In the future, they are expected to contribute to the development of West Java," he said.

Meanwhile, from the alumni element, the Daily Chair of the SMAN 3 Bandung Alumni Association, Gun Gun Saptari Hidayat, said that this program is an important momentum for the advancement of education in West Java.

"This is a crucial momentum for the advancement of education in West Java, making it even more special, advanced, and impactful," he said.

He also emphasized that regional progress begins with education. "We hope Maung School will be the starting point for the revival of education in West Java," he concluded. (pun)
