PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government plans to merge a number of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) into one unit.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said the merger was carried out as a form of budget efficiency that is currently being implemented by the West Java Provincial Government.

"Yes, efficiency. So that the structure is minimal but has many functions," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, after attending the West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Plenary Session on Friday (September 11, 2026).

According to KDM, this merger also has an impact on routine government costs, such as office expenses, official travel and office stationery (ATK).

"If these are combined, West Java Province will have greater funding allocations for development purposes, particularly education, health, and infrastructure services," he said.

KDM explained that a number of OPDs could be combined or added, namely Bappeda combined with the Regional Research and Development Agency, the Environmental Service added with Spatial Planning elements, and the Cooperative Service combined with the Industry and Trade Service.

In addition, the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning Agency (DP3AKB) will be merged with the Population and Civil Registration Agency. The Water Resources Agency will be merged with the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency. Meanwhile, the Tourism and Culture Agency will be merged with the Youth and Sports Agency.

"Yes, we'll wait and see when next year's budget comes into effect," concluded KDM.
