PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. CIREBON - The Rebana area as the new economic corridor for West Java Province continues to grow. The latest activity is the entry of BYD Motor to build the electric vehicle industry in Subang Regency.

Located in the Subang Smartpolitan Industrial Area in the Rebana area, one of the largest electric car companies in the world is starting the first steps in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, which was officially marked by BYD's entry into one of the new cities of Rebana in Subang Smartpolitan.

Head of the Rebana Area Management Agency, Bernardus Djonoputro enthusiastically welcomed BYD's entry and expressed his optimism about Rebana's new economic corridor at the 2024 West Java Economic Society (WJES) event held by Bank Indonesia in Cirebon (30/4/2024).

In the first quarter of 2024, growth in investment realization grew positively by 8.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023. It was recorded that the economy grew 5.8 percent, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The growth of the electric vehicle, battery and manufacturing ecosystem in the future will be a catalyst for investment and at the same time support the country's economy, especially the surrounding region.

Bernardus ensured the readiness of the West Java Provincial Government to facilitate and support industrial growth and also the transition to clean energy.

The Rebana economic corridor area will become a new growth pole for West Java, through the development of 13 new cities based on Industrial Designated Areas.

Currently 7 of the 13 new cities have started developing their areas, including the Subang Smartpolitan Industrial Area.

The Central Government, through Presidential Decree 87 of 2021, allocated 235 trillion in infrastructure investment through 81 national strategic projects.

The area which covers seven district cities including Cirebon city, Cirebon district, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Subang and Sumedang has been planned to become a smart city-based, livable and sustainable area. (BP Rebana/Fauziah)
