Adiwiyata School is a school that cares about the environment and is committed to keeping the school environment clean, healthy and beautiful.

Meanwhile, 30 other schools became Adiwiyata Schools at the Bandung City level.

Thus, in 2024 in Bandung City there will be 348 schools labeled Adiwiyata Schools, ranging from elementary, middle and high schools, both public and private.

Acting Mayor of Bandung A. Koswara appreciated the schools that had received the Adiwiyata School award at the city, provincial and national levels.

"This is part of an environmental strategy to improve culture starting from schools formed by students," said Koswara at the Adiwiyata School Award Ceremony, at the Harris Hotel, Bandung City, Wednesday (11/20/2024).

"Our homework is to spread its scope more widely, with the independent school model, I make it a way to expand Adiwiyata schools to other schools. Our hope is that environmental culture is not only in schools. Because students also interact socially outside of school. This is a challenge and must be a strategy for the service for this culture to be realized throughout the life of society," he said.

He said that parties who care about the environment and are committed to keeping the school environment clean, healthy and beautiful can spread to various fields, such as hotels and restaurants.

"This model can be used by other clusters, hotels or restaurants and so on. This is to create a culture of caring for the environment," he said.

Head of the Bandung City Environmental Service, Dudi Prayudi, said that Adiwiyata School is a school environmental care and culture movement program.

"This culture is not only about cleanliness and greenery, but aims to change the mindset and behavior of students and teachers to the community around the school to care about environmental issues," he said.

Dudi said that this program is part of forming students' character through environmental-based learning that can be applied to everyday life.

"In this program, we not only carry out waste management and reforestation activities, but also build a sustainable natural resource culture," he said.

"Now there are 348 schools with city, provincial, national and independent levels. Of the total 1,100 schools in Bandung City, there are now 348 Adiwiyata Schools or 30 percent of the total number of existing schools," he said.
