PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, appreciated the strategic role of Paguyuban Pasundan in the field of education. He called this institution as one of the important pillars in supporting the implementation of education in Bandung City, especially through its extensive network of educational institutions.

This was conveyed by Farhan at the Silaturahmi and Halalbihalal event for Eid al-Fitr 1446 H of the Pasundan Family Association at Mandalasaba dr. Djoendjoenan, Building C, 5th floor, Pasundan Association Office Complex, Bandung City, Saturday (12/4/2025).

"The Deputy Mayor and I are present at this gathering. This is a form of respect for the great role of the Pasundan Association, especially in the world of education in the city of Bandung," he said.

He explained that educational institutions under the auspices of the Pasundan Association are present at various levels, from elementary to tertiary level, and have long been part of the city's education system.

"This association has a long history. Its educational institutions are spread across various levels and have become important partners of the city government," he said.

According to him, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has established many concrete collaborations with educational institutions owned by Paguyuban Pasundan. One of them is the utilization of graduates of the faculty of education as prospective teachers.

"We have worked together in various ways. One of them, we utilize graduates of the faculty of education for teacher recruitment in Bandung," he said.

Farhan hopes that this partnership will continue and become closer. He believes that the existence of Paguyuban Pasundan will continue to provide a major contribution to the development of human resources and the advancement of education in the city of Bandung.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said it was important to develop the region by returning to its cultural roots.

"This is not about primordialism, but about values. Leaders must be examples. The Pasundan Association must produce national leaders," he said.

KDM --Dedi Mulyadi's nickname-- reminded people of the importance of protecting the nature and environment of Sundanese land from damage such as illegal mining and deforestation.

"The land of Sunda was created by God when he was smiling, so don't damage it. All regional heads must protect the environment," he said.

He invited all elements of society to uphold the teachings of their ancestors, such as the values of silih asah, silih asih, silih asuh.

The General Chairperson of the Pasundan Association, Didi Turmudzi, expressed his hope that Sundanese values would continue to color the direction of leadership in West Java.

"I hope the governor has extraordinary courage. Now the leader must represent his Sundaneseness," he said.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pasundan Association who is also a Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, TB Hasanuddin, emphasized that the existence of the Pasundan Association has been proven to maintain ties of friendship and fight for the welfare of the community.

"Paguyuban Pasundan has been established for more than 112 years. It is present not only for culture, but also to fight poverty and ignorance," he said.

He hopes that the Association will continue to support the government, both at the national and regional levels, in realizing a prosperous and educated society.
