PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Dulag Festival took place on Friday (20/3/2026) evening in front of Gedung Sate, Bandung City from 19.30 - 23.30 WIB.

Representatives from various regions in West Java were present to showcase their dulag artistic creativity in an orderly, clean, and aesthetic atmosphere.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said this was the second year the festival had been held since he took office as Governor.

"This is my second year as Governor, and the second year the ngadulag festival has been held. This festival is held as an effort to strengthen the spiritual and social values of the community after Ramadan, by highlighting the tradition of ngadulag, or drumming, as a symbol of togetherness and Islamic brotherhood in the Land of Pasundan," he explained.

This activity, he said, is in line with the vision of "Overtime Managed, City Organized, West Java Special" which combines cultural, religious, and urban planning elements.

The Governor also expressed his appreciation for the officers who continued to carry out their duties to ensure the event ran smoothly. "I express my gratitude to all the officers who remained on duty, regardless of the time. Therefore, let us be grateful citizens to Allah SWT by honoring those who sacrificed for us," he said.

The Governor hopes that the Special Dulag Festival will not only be an entertainment event, but also a means of character building for the younger generation through the Pancawaluya values of "cageur, bageur, bener, pinter, singer" and strengthening the distinctive religious cultural identity of West Java.

West Java Education Office Wins Second Place

A total of 43 teams participated in the festival, comprising 27 district/city government delegations and representatives from Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) within the West Java Provincial Government.

All participants performed simultaneously in their respective areas measuring 3x5 meters, beating the drums simultaneously for a maximum duration of two minutes.

The assessment was carried out by a professional and independent panel of judges who observed the overall performance and best moments of each team.

From the results of the competition, the West Java Education Office (Disdik) won second place.

The Head of the West Java Education Office, Purwanto, also expressed his appreciation for this achievement, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining Islamic traditions.

"Dulag is an Islamic tradition in Indonesia. Therefore, preserving dulag on Eid al-Fitr is preserving Indonesian culture. Let's continue to preserve and nurture Islamic traditions," he concluded. (Apun)
