PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - Amidst the rapid flow of digitalization and technological advancements, the ability to read, understand information, and a willingness to continue learning are becoming increasingly important. The Ciamis Regency Government continues to promote a culture of literacy as part of its efforts to improve the quality of human resources.

This message emerged at the 2026 Ciamis Literacy Festival, held by the Ciamis Regency Library and Archives Office, with the theme "Synergy in Literacy, Realizing a Progressive and Sustainable Ciamis." The event ran for three days, September 22–24, 2026.

Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya emphasized that a reading culture and a willingness to continue learning must be part of people's lives. He stated that technological developments and digitalization require everyone to adapt to avoid being left behind.

"We must continue to develop literacy and cultivate a reading culture. Reading is crucial for knowledge, especially in today's world, when digitalization and modern developments inevitably require us to keep up. If we don't, we will fall far behind," said Regent Herdiat.

He also encouraged the public to never stop learning. He argued that the learning process is not limited to formal education but continues throughout life.

"Therefore, we must not stop learning, everyone must learn," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Ciamis Regency Library and Archives Service, H. Okta Jabal Nugraha, as the head of the organizing committee, said that the Ciamis Literacy Festival is a strategic step to strengthen the community literacy movement while increasing the role of libraries as centers for lifelong learning.

According to him, developing literacy requires collaboration between various elements, starting from the government, society, communities, the world of education, the business world, and various other stakeholders.

The 2026 Ciamis Literacy Festival also features a variety of activities, including promotions of library collections and services, educational talk shows and literacy discussions, exhibitions and displays of literacy works, awards for winners of literacy activities, and arts and cultural performances.

Through these activities, the Ciamis Regency Government hopes to foster a culture of reading, learning, creating, and sharing knowledge within the community. These efforts are part of strengthening a sustainable literacy ecosystem to realize a progressive and sustainable Ciamis.
