PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Kiwari Regional General Hospital (RSUD) held a Public Communication Forum (FKP) at the Novotel Hotel on Jalan Cihampelas on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. This forum is crucial for clarifying various issues and perceptions that have arisen in the community regarding hospital services.

This forum discussed the Emergency Department (ER) Service Standards at Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital. This activity provided a forum for dialogue between the hospital, government, healthcare partners, community organizations, and the general public to strengthen understanding of healthcare service standards, particularly in the ER.

The Head of the Bandung City Health Office, Sony Adam, said that the Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital was established and operated under strict supervision and in accordance with the health service standards set by the government.

The hospital director, he said, was given the mandate to ensure that all hospital service and management processes ran according to regulations.

"All hospital staff must operate according to applicable service standards. These standards are designed to protect the public, healthcare workers, and provide legal certainty for all parties," said Sony.

As Head of the Health Service and also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Bandung City Government-owned hospital, Soni admitted that he continues to carry out intensive supervision and communication with the management of Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital to ensure that services continue to run according to the applicable functions and regulations.

He acknowledged that in practice there are often differences between community expectations and the service standards that hospitals must implement.

These differences in perception often give rise to complaints and become topics of conversation on social media.

"Sometimes what the public wants isn't always what should be done according to standards. This is where education and communication are crucial to prevent miscommunication," he said.

Sony also highlighted the still low level of understanding among some members of the public regarding health service mechanisms, including procedures for using national health insurance through BPJS Kesehatan.

According to him, many people still consider BPJS procedures complicated, even though all of these mechanisms were created to ensure orderly administration and the continuity of the health service system.

"BPJS isn't complicated, but it does require compliance with the rules. Failure to follow these procedures can lead to issues with claims and service delivery. It's our collective responsibility to continue educating the public," he said.

He explained that the National Health Insurance (JKN) system, which has been in operation for over a decade, has created a service ecosystem involving the government, BPJS Kesehatan (Social Security Agency for Health), hospitals, and the community as participants. Therefore, all parties need to maintain the system's continuity.

On that occasion, Sony also reminded all health workers to continue carrying out their profession with full patience and prioritize humane services to the community.

"We must be patient because people come with the expectation of receiving the best possible service. As long as we operate according to health service standards, all actions taken will have clear protections," he said.

He hopes that this Public Communication Forum can become a means to build a shared understanding of health services at Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital.

"We have only one goal: to work according to the rules, standards, and serve the public based on their healthcare needs, not solely on their desires," he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Director of Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital, Arief Budiman, said that the holding of the Public Communication Forum was a manifestation of the hospital's commitment to building two-way communication with the community.

He explained that the implementation of the forum was a mandate of the Regulation of the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PermenPAN-RB) Number 16 of 2017 concerning the implementation of the Public Consultation Forum.

"This forum aims to gain a shared understanding, from discussing the design, implementation, and evaluation of the policies we have established, to creating effective policies to improve the quality of public services," he said.

Through this forum, RSUD Bandung Kiwari aims to align its service capabilities with community expectations, while minimizing the impact of policies that have the potential to cause misunderstandings.

The party also opened up as wide a space as possible for the public to provide input on various service policies implemented by the hospital.

"This forum is not only a means of dialogue, but also an educational tool for the public to understand the policies we implement, while also inviting them to participate in monitoring the implementation of services," he said.

Arief said that quality public services can only be achieved through the active involvement of all parties, including the government, health partners, and the community itself.

Therefore, RSUD Bandung Kiwari is committed to making the Public Communication Forum a continuous monitoring and evaluation instrument so that the hospital becomes more responsive, transparent, and trustworthy.

"This forum is not just a ceremony, but an instrument for continuously improving services so that RSUD Bandung Kiwari can emerge as a hospital that is increasingly responsive, transparent, and trusted by all Bandung residents," he concluded.
