PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Proud news comes from Garut Regency. Garut managed to enter the top 5 regions with the Best Investment Proposal at the 2024 West Java Industrial Meeting which was held at the Trans Luxury Hotel, Bandung City, Friday (28/6/2024)

This achievement was achieved thanks to the hard work and synergy of various parties. The investment proposal submitted by the Garut Regency Regional Government (Pemdakab) is entitled "Situ Bagendit – World Class Tourism", which offers the development and management of Situ Bagendit with a Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) scheme.

This proposal was also made to continue the momentum of revitalization previously carried out by the Central Government in 2020.

"The Garut Regency Government considers that with the large amount of development potential that exists, Situ Bagendit needs a professional manager who not only raises economic value through tourism development, but social value through empowering the surrounding community and culture, while also maintaining the ecological value of Situ Bagendit which is a natural lake. " said the Head of the Garut Regency Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Didit Fajar Putradi, in his written statement.

"By managing Situ Bagendit by investors, it is hoped that it can increase the fiscal independence of Garut Regency by increasing Original Regional Income," he said

He revealed that the Garut investment proposal offers the development and management of Situ Bagendit which is divided into 6 land zones and one water zone with an investment value of 6.691 million USD or around IDR 109 billion.

It is projected that the number of tourist visits to Situ Bagendit will increase 125 times from 2023, reaching 22 million people in 2040.

Before becoming the top 5 best regions, continued Didit, Garut Regency went through a strict selection starting from exploring potential and investment opportunities on March 6 to 7 2024, and assistance on March 28 2024, resulting in the 10 best districts/cities.

After that, the Garut Regency Investment Challenge Team made a presentation on May 17 2024 before the West Java Provincial Government and involved an assessment team from Bank Indonesia, the Ministry of BKPM, Consultants and PT. PII (Indonesian Infrastructure Guarantee). From this presentation and field inspection on May 31 2024, the 5 best districts were produced and Garut Regency was one of them.

"Previously, Garut has also presented this investment proposal in front of prospective investors on a national and international scale (Asia, Europe, America) at the Investment Roadshow in Jakarta. It is hoped that based on this investor meeting, Garut Regency can become the 2 best city districts so that it will be entitled to a prize of 500 million rupiah "which is aimed at preparing a feasibility study so that it can provide a comprehensive picture to potential investors who are interested in taking part in developing Situ Bagendit," he said.

There are 4 other regions that received the best investment proposal award, namely:
1. Subang Regency
2. Purwakarta Regency
3. Sukabumi Regency
4. Ciamis Regency
