PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - An earthquake measuring 6.5 magnitude rocked Garut Regency. Based on data from the Meteorology Climatology Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the earthquake was in the sea 151 km southwest of Garut Regency with a depth of 10 km.

The earthquake occurred on Friday night at 23.29 WIB (27/04/2024).

According to the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), as of 11.55 WIB, temporary data due to the earthquake, as many as 67 housing units were affected. The impact of the earthquake spread across 20 sub-districts (27 villages and 4 sub-districts).

Apart from that, continued the Head of BPPD, 4 infrastructure units were affected, including the Pameungpeuk Regional General Hospital (RSUD), which caused 6 injuries.

He added, even though there is no potential for a tsunami, the public is advised to always be alert and careful.
