PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Rapid Reaction Unit Team of the Disaster Management Operations Control Center (URC Pusdalops PB) and the Emergency and Logistics Functional Officers of the West Java Provincial BPBD immediately departed and carried out handling at the locations affected by the earthquake.
The team brought one chainsaw unit, one portable lamp unit, one generator unit, and one rotary saw unit.
In addition, the West Java BPBD also brought logistical assistance in the form of refugee tents, basic necessities, drinking water, and food.
As is known, a tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 rocked Bandung Regency and Garut Regency, Wednesday (18/9/2024), at 09.41 WIB. This incident resulted in several buildings and houses being damaged.
Today, Thursday (19/9), the Head of BNPB also went to the field bringing logistical assistance worth around IDR 300 million.
Regarding the working visit to the two locations, the Head of BNPB wanted to ensure that a series of emergency response efforts could be carried out as well as possible, in accordance with the mandate in Law Number 24 of 2007 concerning Disaster Management.
The results of the rapid assessment data development as of Thursday (19/9) at 06.00 WIB, as many as 30 villages in 8 sub-districts in Bandung Regency were affected, with a total population of 21,696 people from 5,409 families.
At least 15 residents suffered serious injuries, 7 people had to receive intensive care at the regional hospital.
In addition, 53 residents suffered minor injuries and an elementary school student died after the earthquake.
The victim reportedly had a history of illness and before he died, he had a relapse and then fell and his life could not be saved when he arrived at the hospital.
Meanwhile, for updated information regarding damage, as many as 532 houses were severely damaged, 475 houses were moderately damaged, and 1,013 houses were lightly damaged.
There were 1,263 housing units affected, including two government buildings and 55 houses of worship.
In Garut Regency, 209 residents living in 11 villages in three sub-districts were reported to have been affected by the earthquake. At least 204 houses were affected, including 5 houses of worship.
