PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) noted that the development of the capital market in West Java has experienced a quite significant increase.

Head of the West Java BEI Representative Office, Achmad Dirgantara, noted that of the 13 million single investor identification (SID) or investors in the capital market, around 2.8 percent are in West Java.

"Of the 2.8 percent or 1.2 million capital market investors in West Java, around 80 percent are investors aged 20-40 years, including students," said Achmad, Saturday (29/9/2024).

"The composition of investors in West Java, 43 percent are private employees, 17 percent are students, and 16 percent are economic actors or entrepreneurs," he added.

According to Achmad, the increasing number of stock investors in West Java is partly influenced by the existence of the BEI investment gallery, which is not only found in universities but is also spread across a number of high schools in West Java.

"BEI West Java has opened 61 investment galleries, including in universities and high schools. This gallery is formed from educational investment, so that millennials and gen z can easily get information related to investment earlier," he said.

Achmad said that the millennial generation has a high level of curiosity. With fast and easy access to information, they ultimately want to try.

"Therefore, now starting from high school, to college with investment galleries, it is quite helpful in increasing the number of investors," he said. (Parno)
