PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung City residents enthusiastically welcomed the Cheap Food Movement (GMP) held by the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) at Graha Manggala Siliwangi (11/18/2024).

The reason is, the prices offered are cheaper than those on the market.

As is known, GPM aims to ensure the availability and accessibility of affordable food for the community. GPM seeks to suppress the price of basic foods such as rice, sugar, oil, shallots, garlic and others.

"I buy rice and oil. The prices are relatively cheap compared to the market," said one resident, Yati.

"It's good, the price is cheaper and more economical," he added.

He hopes that GPM will be implemented more often in densely populated areas so that people can choose to shop for basic necessities.

"It would be better if it was held more often. Especially now that staple food prices are high. When this (GPM) is available, it is more affordable for people in need," he said.

Another resident, Tini, said that the GPM activity was quite helpful to her.

"I hope there is more stock. Because this can suppress the price in the market, so it is more affordable," he said.

According to him, for mothers, the price difference of Rp. 1,000 will be pursued by mothers.

"Rp 1,000 is also quite a lot, we will definitely look for it. There should be more stock, because this is only for one day," he said.

Here are some commodity prices for GPM activities:

- Bulog SPHP Rice Rp. 58,000
- Cooking Oil/Bottle Rp. 15,500
- Red onions Rp. 33,000 per kilo
- Garlic Rp. 37,000 per kilo
- Purebred chicken eggs Rp. 28,500 per kilo
- Chili peppers Rp. 40,000 per kilo
- Granulated Sugar Rp. 16,500 per kilo
- Fresh chicken Rp. 32,000 per kilo
- Large potatoes Rp. 14,000 per kilo. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
