PORTALJABAR, SUMEDANG REGENCY - West Java Regional Secretary (Sekda) Herman Suryatman emphasized that the Scout Movement in West Java must become the Candradimuka Crater of the Pancawaluya Generation in shaping the character of the younger generation while preparing future leaders.

This was conveyed by Herman when closing the Integrated Camping and Level II (LT II) Competition of the Situraja Branch Scout Movement at the Candra Singa Balingbing Dua Camping Ground, Situraja Village, Situraja District, Sumedang Regency, Wednesday (26/8/2026).

"If you dig deeper, Scouts are leaders. How did you, from Siaga, Penggalang, Penegak, and then Pandega, become leaders, become people who work?" Herman said in his speech.

He emphasized that Scouting activities should not be merely ceremonial or a formality meant to fulfill obligations. Each activity must have a real impact on the character development and quality of its participants.

"Scouts aren't just a formality of fulfilling obligations; they must have a purpose. Every Scouting activity must have a purpose, at least to build character," he said.

Herman also advised the instructors to ensure that every participant who took part in the camping activity experienced positive changes after the activity ended.

"After the event is over, it will be even more impressive, even better, even more correct, even smarter, and even more impressive. Otherwise, why would we hold a Jamboree? Why hold an integrated camp? So there must be results," he stressed.

Herman also invited all Scout participants in West Java to become part of the Pancawaluya generation, in line with the vision of developing a special West Java.

"Everyone, without exception, who participates in the integrated camp must be part of the Pancawaluya generation. This is to realize Sumedang Simpati, to realize West Java Istimewa, and to realize a Glorious Indonesia," he said.

He hopes that character building through the Scout Movement will contribute to preparing a generation capable of welcoming the Golden Indonesia 2045 and making Indonesia one of the developed countries in the world.

"Being a Scout is not just a formality. We are building a better generation of young people so they can embrace the future through the Scout Movement," said Herman.

The Integrated Camp and LT II of the Situraja Branch Scout Movement was attended by participants from 26 elementary schools, 10 junior high schools/Islamic junior high schools, and 9 senior high schools/vocational high schools.

In total, 1,214 participants and instructors attended the event. Herman hopes the event will not just stop at the camping experience, but will also leave participants with positive values and character traits that they carry into their daily lives.

"As West Java's vision states, Pancawaluya ngajati diri (self-promotion). West Java Scouts are special, so all of you must become the Pancawaluya generation. We will promote it!" he asserted.
