PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government recorded nearly 8,000 visitors attending the 2026 Bandung Great Sale (BGS) during the three-day event.

The event took place on August 21–23, 2026, at Laswi Heritage, with visitors recorded through a barcode system and transactions using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS).

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the number was still being calculated because one barcode could be used by several people.

"Thank God, the Bandung Great Sale, based on QRIS and barcode counts, has reached almost 8,000 entries over the past three days," said Muhammad Farhan at Bandung City Hall on August 24, 2026.

The Bandung City Government estimates that the actual number of visitors could reach at least 15,000 people after counting visitors who came with barcode scanners.

"When they enter, the barcode can carry two or three people. We're still calculating the multiplication. I hope to be able to accommodate at least 15,000 people," he said.

In addition to visitors, the Bandung City Government calculated transactions and the economic impact of BGS 2026 based on transaction reports from Bank bjb.

Muhammad Farhan targets BGS's economic turnover in various shopping centers to reach IDR 1 billion to IDR 1.5 billion over three days.

"We hope the economic turnover can reach the figure of BGS in just three days, across all malls, around Rp1 to Rp1.5 billion," he said.

According to him, the new BGS concept brings together business actors, communities, and the culinary sector so that people get more product choices and shopping activities.

"These three days have been excellent. This is a new BGS concept. I think it's great because it not only showcases entrepreneurs with their respective product brands, but also showcases communities that also sell and offer a very comprehensive culinary experience," said Muhammad Farhan.

He assessed that the diversity of activities and business actors made BGS one of the activities that represented the character of the City of Bandung.

"This is one of the events that is very Bandung," he said.

BGS is part of Bandung Shopping Month which runs until August 31, 2026 after a series of activities running since July.

"Actually, this is part of Bandung Shopping Month, which ends on August 31st. So, it's been going on for quite some time, almost two months, July and August," he said.

The Bandung City Government is also preparing the Bandung Fair and a number of music festivals to keep economic and tourism activities moving.

Muhammad Farhan said three music festival proposals had been submitted to private sponsors, but only one proposal had received approval.

"We've submitted several proposals to private sponsors to revitalize Bandung with various music festivals. I've already submitted three, and only one has received approval. I'll share more details later," he said.

Private sector support is expected to increase residents' activity choices while maintaining economic activity through various agendas throughout the year.
