PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Reconstruction of 17 kiosks at Ciamis Market which burned down on February 27, 2025, will be carried out soon.
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said he would immediately coordinate with the Ciamis Regent regarding this matter so that traders could resume selling, especially during the month of Ramadan.
"We will find a way for traders to quickly return to business because based on the rules, development by the local government must go through an auction and that process could take around four months," said Dedi.
"While waiting for the reconstruction by the local government because it has to go through an auction process. I am ready to help build two shops so that traders can sell. God willing, the process will start on Monday," said Dedi in a telephone call with the Ciamis Market Mantri, Saturday ( 1/3/2025 ).
Of the total 17 stalls in Ciamis Market, 15 stalls were burned, while two stalls survived. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The initial suspicion is that the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. There were no fatalities because the fire occurred in the afternoon when the market was closed.
Of the 15 kiosks that burned down, four of them will be rebuilt independently by the owners and have received approval from the Ciamis Regent.
Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya said that the burnt market would be repaired immediately, and it would be hoped that it could be used again before Eid.
"Pasar Manis belongs to the local government, it will be repaired as soon as possible. At least a week or a few days before Eid it will be occupied again," said Herdiat.
