PORTALJABAR, PURWAKARTA REGENCY - West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi, revealed that a number of strategic policies that were recently implemented were born from spontaneity, but have a positive impact on society.

Some of these policies include the demolition of tourist attractions, the elimination of arrears and fines for motor vehicle taxes, the provision of compensation for non-motorized vehicle owners, and the release of land on river banks.

"This policy came up spontaneously in my mind, then I immediately implemented it," said Dedi while leading a meeting with the Regents and Mayors of West Java at the Purwakarta Regent's Pendopo, Friday (21/3/2025).

KDM -- Dedi Mulyadi's nickname -- said that ideas that emerge spontaneously should not be postponed so that they can be realized immediately and provide benefits to society. According to him, this mindset is also applied by developed countries.

"Ideas that emerge spontaneously should never be postponed so that the obstacles in realizing them do not increase. That is the way of thinking applied by developed countries," he said.

He also encouraged regional heads in West Java not to hesitate in issuing spontaneous policies aimed at the welfare of the people.

"This attitude must be possessed by every leader and bureaucrat," he said.

One example of a spontaneous policy that has succeeded in giving a significant impact is the elimination of arrears and fines for motor vehicle taxes. This policy has succeeded in increasing tax revenue significantly.

Based on data from the West Java Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), tax revenue increased by Rp5.5 billion, from Rp19 billion to Rp25 billion. This increase came from tax payments of 50,300 motor vehicles in one day after the policy was implemented.

"I think, rather than waiting for people to pay Rp2 million without certainty, it is better to get direct income of Rp250 thousand," concluded Dedi.
