PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Governor of West Java for the period 1993−1998 and 1998−2003, Major General TNI (Ret.) Nana Nuriana died on Thursday ( 11/7/2024 ), at 04.55 WIB.
The body of the late Nuriana was laid to rest at the Parahyangan Rumah Vila Complex funeral home, West Bandung Regency and on Thursday afternoon was buried at the Cikutra Heroes' Cemetery (TMP), Bandung City.
The body of the late Nuriana arrived at TMP Cikutra, at 11.50, and was buried at zuhur at around 12.10. The deceased was buried militarily.
Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin as inspector of funeral ceremonies stated that the burial of the deceased was at the Cikutra Heroes Night Park and was carried out militarily as a form of respect from the government and TNI for the deceased's service and dedication during his lifetime.
"On behalf of the West Java Provincial Government and personally, I am sorry for the death of the Governor of West Java for the period 1993−1998 and 1998−2003, Nana Nuriana. May Allah accept all the deeds of the deceased," said Bey Machmudin.
Bey added that while he was alive, the deceased carried out his duties with exemplary enthusiasm and sincerity.
The deceased was a disciplined and populist figure. Officials in that era rarely had a populist attitude.
"He is known as a disciplined and populist figure. Even though I did not meet him in the service, many friends also tell me that he is a disciplined and populist figure," said Bey.
Another example of Nuriana was described by Bey as someone who was not proud of eating at the porridge shop on the side of the road and often took the time to visit museums throughout West Java during work visits.
"He doesn't hesitate to eat roadside porridge and spends time going to museums when visiting areas. So that means remembering history and wanting to know what the character of the area is like. His curiosity is quite big and he respects history by always trying to go to museums even if only with an aide. ," said Bey.
Nuriana, when she was Governor in the era of the monetary crisis, was known for her idea of a pro-people program entitled DAKABALAREA.
Bey explained that this idea means Daka: Dahareun loba kabeuli ku people , which means there is a lot of food and the people can afford it.
Then Balarea: Barudak can still go to school , meaning the children can still go to school.
"So what a noble idea this was, we pray that the deceased will get the best place in the sight of Allah SWT," said Bey.
Apart from Dakabalarea, a poverty alleviation program during the monetary crisis, the deceased also promoted santri through the Santri Raksa Desa program.
The representative of the deceased's family, Yudi Guntara, expressed his gratitude for the attention of the West Java Provincial Government, TNI, Kogartap and other elements of society who were present at the funeral and while the deceased was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Nuriana was born in Sumedang on April 17 1938 . He led West Java as Governor of West Java for two periods, in 1993−1998 and 1998−2003.
