JAKARTA – West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi, revealed that the West Java Provincial Government is currently preparing a Governor Regulation (Pergub) on the prohibition of land conversion. This policy aims to prevent floods and landslides that are often caused by uncontrolled land conversion.

In his statement at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/3/2025), KDM - Dedi Mulyadi's nickname - explained that the Regional Regulation would cover the plantation, forestry, and agriculture sectors.

"I am preparing a Governor's regulation, namely a ban on the conversion of plantation, forestry and agricultural land," he said.

Furthermore, he explained that the draft of the gubernatorial regulation is currently being consulted with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to ensure its compliance with higher regulations.

"We are currently consulting with the Ministry of Home Affairs and I have contacted the Minister of Home Affairs. Later we will examine whether it is in conflict with the law above it," said Dedi.

Dedi hopes that the Governor's Regulation on the prohibition of land conversion can be immediately ratified and implemented effectively to stop all land conversion activities that are not in accordance with their designation in West Java.

"Hopefully it will be recommended so that this will stop all conversions in West Java," he said.
