PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, asked all regional apparatus and regional officials to increase their preparedness for the rainy season which is expected to arrive soon.

Farhan delivered this directive during the Start of Work Roll Call at the Bandung City Hall Plaza, Monday (21/9/2026).

According to Farhan, the rainy season is a challenge that must be anticipated early, considering the potential for flooding, inundation, landslides, and various other disruptions to public services.

"One of the challenges we must face immediately is the upcoming rainy season," said Farhan.

He revealed that he had previously asked the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and related regional agencies to prepare a preparedness concept for the rainy season.

The concept includes risk mitigation measures, cross-sector coordination, and the readiness of personnel and supporting facilities in the field.

Farhan said that preparedness is not only the responsibility of the BPBD, but also all regional apparatus and territorial elements down to the sub-district level.

According to him, sub-district heads and village heads have an important role in mapping potential vulnerabilities in their respective areas and ensuring that anticipatory measures are taken before a disaster occurs.

In addition to facing the rainy season, Farhan also reminded that the city of Bandung is now increasingly busy every weekend with various tourism, sports, and entertainment activities that attract many visitors.

Therefore, he asked all regional apparatus to have a clear work plan and be able to respond to various problems that may arise quickly and in a coordinated manner.

"So that all ranks focus on anticipating various problems that may arise, whether due to the weather or increased community activity," he said.

Farhan hopes that early preparedness will minimize the impact of the disaster and ensure optimal public services continue during the rainy season. (Bandung City Communications and Information Service /rka)
