PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government is preparing 1,300 athletes, coaches, and officials to face the 15th West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 2026.

This readiness was conveyed by the Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, in a preparatory meeting for the Porprov (4/9/2026).

The meeting took place at the Nonon Sontanie Hall, Bekasi City Government, to discuss the contingent's readiness to face the West Java level competition.

"We've prepared 1,300 athletes, along with officials and coaches. Our budget is very minimal, around Rp15 billion, but hopefully, it can support our athletes' efforts," said Asep.

Despite a limited budget, the Bekasi Regency Government continues to provide support so that athletes can train and compete optimally.

Bekasi Regency has a strong track record of achievement after winning 138 gold medals and becoming the overall champion at the previous event.

"Hopefully, with this Rp15 billion, the athletes who previously won 138 gold medals can maintain their achievements. Now, just stay motivated, compete, and fight. We'll think about bonuses later," he said.

Asep ensured that bonuses would still be prepared as a form of appreciation for athletes who successfully recorded achievements at the XV West Java Porprov.

However, athletes are asked to focus on preparation, training, and their best performance during the match.

Asep assessed that budget is one of the factors supporting achievement, but the quality of training and technical readiness also determine the outcome of the match.

Reza Lutfi Hasan, Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) for Bekasi Regency, confirmed that preparations for athletes and sports are proceeding according to plan.

"We're ready, we're ready to go. They're still training under these conditions. So, in terms of athlete and sport readiness, we're ready," he said.

Reza is targeting Bekasi Regency to return to the ranks of the best regions by at least maintaining its position in the top three in West Java.

"What's certain is that given today's conditions, we won't embarrass Bekasi Regency. The bitter truth is, we have to at least reach the top three," he stressed.

A number of sports branches in Bekasi Regency will also use match venues in the Bekasi City area to support the smooth running of the competition.

These sports include squash, swimming, horse riding and skateboarding, which utilize competition facilities as needed.

Reza ensured that the contingent's accommodation, equipment, and technical needs were continuously prepared so that the athletes could compete comfortably.

This support is expected to help Bekasi Regency athletes maintain focus and pursue achievements despite facing budget constraints.
