PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is opening up space for local game developers to introduce 32 of their creations to the public.

The space was presented through Bandung Game Demo Day 2026 at the Multipurpose Building of Bandung City Hall (7/8/2026).

The event, which will run until (8/8/2026), will feature digital games and board games that the public can try directly.

Various works demonstrate the creativity of local developers through the roguelike genre, veterinary clinic simulation, and holiday-themed games.

One of the works that attracts attention is Paw Pewpew from Studio Sang Nila which was developed by Keilin and Renggana.

This roguelike game features cozy visuals, vibrant colors, and cute characters to provide a unique gaming experience.

"Paw Pewpew is a roguelike game that has a cozier aesthetic, vibrant colors, and cute characters," said Keilin.

Sang Nila Studio developed Paw Pewpew for about five months until it reached the demo stage to be introduced to the public.

The team faced challenges developing three-dimensional art, especially texturing and modeling, so some visuals had to be reworked.

Keilin said the team deliberately changed the roguelike's typically dark visual tendencies to be brighter and more engaging.

"For example, roguelike games often have a dark, grimy style. We're trying to figure out what to do if we take a more cute and vibrant aesthetic," he explained.

Another work, Pet Care Panic from Studio Idea Out, invites players to manage a veterinary clinic with a cozy yet chaotic atmosphere.

Players take on the role of a clinic owner who cares for cats and dogs, offering a simulation experience that is close to everyday life.

"In this game, players will play as the owner of a veterinary clinic who will have to care for the cats and dogs that come into his shop," said Faiz Fadillah.

Studio Idea Out has been redeveloping Pet Care Panic through a remake process for about three months.

Remote development is challenging because team members come from different regions and cannot always meet in person.

Meanwhile, local developers also introduced the Holiday Rush board game by Rizky and his team to visitors.

Holiday Rush elevates the experience of a family vacation at home, allowing people to enjoy the game without having to travel.

"The goal is actually to spend holidays with your family at home by playing holiday-themed board games," said Rizky.

The team developed Holiday Rush for about 10 months and is now entering the printing stage for further preparation.

Rizky said the main challenge in developing board games is creating simple mechanisms without reducing the fun of playing.

"The most difficult thing in making a board game is firstly creating a mechanic that is casual but fun and that everyone doesn't need a steep learning curve to play the board game," he said.

Bandung Game Demo Day 2026 showcased the creative process of local developers in developing stories, visuals, mechanics, and gameplay experiences.

The presence of works that are still in the development stage gives the public the opportunity to see the game creation process before it is ready for release.
