PORTALJABAR, SUMEDANG REGENCY - Sumedang Regency officially entered its 447th year on Monday (4/21/2025). In the 447th Sumedang Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony held at the Sumedang PPS Field, the Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, was present to provide encouragement and appreciation for the long journey of the region that is the pride of West Java.
"On April 22, 1578, in Tatar Sunda there was only one kingdom, namely the Sumedang Larang Kingdom. Hundreds of years later, this kingdom transformed into the Sumedang Regency that we love today," said Herman before the event began.
As a native son of Sumedang, Herman has high hopes that in its 447th year, Sumedang will become more advanced and sympathetic under the leadership of the Regent, Deputy Regent, Regional Secretary, DPRD, and Sumedang Forkopimda.
"Our prayers and support, the West Java Provincial Government, are always with you. Keep moving forward Sumedang, give the best for the community towards prosperity and happiness," he added.
Herman also invited the people of Sumedang to reflect on history, strengthen today's conditions, and look to the future with optimism.
"Nyoreang prey ka artisan, recite the Koran yourself kiwari, pikeung mapag masa rek come. Learn from the past, strengthen today, and embrace a brighter future for Sumedang. From Sumedang for Indonesia. In Sumedang, in sun madang," he emphasized enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, Sumedang Regent, Dony Ahmad Munir expressed his gratitude for the 447th anniversary of Sumedang Regency and his appreciation for the attention given by the West Java Regional Secretary.
"Let's work together to advance Sumedang and improve the welfare of the community, of course with the guidance of the West Java Provincial Government," said the Regent.
This year's 447th Sumedang Anniversary is not only a momentum to remember history, but also a moral call to continue working in real terms—organizing the city, managing villages, in order to realize a Special West Java and an increasingly advanced Sumedang Simpati.
