PORTALJABAR, DEPOK CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi gave a special gift to Depok City which is celebrating its 26th anniversary. The West Java Provincial Government will build an underpass at Citayam Market and renovate one of the lakes with a fountain facility. The construction plan will begin in 2026.
This was conveyed by KDM - Dedi Mulyadi's nickname - when attending a public entertainment event at Depok Open Space, Friday (25/4/2025).
"Next year, the underpass at Citayam Market will be built by the West Java Provincial Government. The water bodies must also be repaired. I promise, in 2026 we will build a water body with a fountain like in Purwakarta," said KDM in front of thousands of residents present.
The construction of the Citayam Market underpass is believed to smooth the flow of traffic in the area. Meanwhile, the renovation of the lake with a fountain facility is a form of support for the identity of Depok City which is known to have many lakes.
Furthermore, KDM expressed its commitment to continue to encourage development in Depok City, including the development of road infrastructure and public facilities at the sub-district level.
"Development in Depok must increase. The roads must be good. Each sub-district will have a performance hall that can be used by the community for celebrations, religious studies, and other activities," he said.
KDM also emphasized the importance of city cleanliness and the aesthetics of public spaces. He asked that there be no more messy billboards and ensure that all PJU (street lighting) are functioning.
"Drainage must be clean, more cleaning staff must be added so that Depok will be even shinier. There must be no messy billboards and broken street lights," he stressed.
Regarding security, KDM highlighted a number of criminal acts that had occurred in Depok. He emphasized the commitment of the West Java Provincial Government, Depok City Government, and community support to jointly prevent crime and control the existence of beggars.
"Depok must be free from crime and beggars," he said.
The 26th anniversary celebration of Depok City was also enlivened by folk entertainment featuring comedians Sule, Ohang, Ceu Popon, Ocid, Udin Nganga, Iin Marlina, and Charly Van Houtten. The event was also enlivened by a cheap UMKM market that was crowded with visitors.
