PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government (Pemkab) interprets the commemoration of Kartini Day 2025 as a strategic momentum to strengthen the role of women in regional development. Through the spirit of Raden Ajeng Kartini's struggle, the Bekasi Regency Government affirms its commitment to promoting gender equality, women's empowerment, and child protection. This commitment emphasizes the real contribution of women in the economic, education and social sectors.
This was conveyed by the Acting Head of the Bekasi Regency Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service (DP3A) Ani Gustini after attending the 2025 Kartini Day virtual commemoration ceremony with the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection. The activity was held from the Command Center, Diskominfosantik, Bekasi Regency Government Complex, Central Cikarang, on Monday (4/21/2025). The Regional Secretary of Bekasi Regency, Dedi Supriyadi, also attended the activity virtually.
"Kartini Day is a momentum to encourage the spirit of regional development in Bekasi Regency, especially in fulfilling the rights of women and children," said Ani Gustini.
Carrying the national theme "1000 Professions of Women and Gen Z", Ani expressed optimism that women in Bekasi Regency have great potential in supporting economic growth through Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and playing an important role in forming strong and educated families.
In addition, the Bekasi Regency Government also continues to roll out various programs that emphasize the active involvement of women in development, including giving appreciation to inspiring women and strengthening women's organizations such as PKK. Ani also highlighted the governor's program that encourages mothers to become foster parents as part of child protection efforts.
Responding to the still rampant violence against women and children, Ani Gustini appealed to the public, especially women, to dare to report if they experience or know of acts of violence. According to her, women have an important role in reaching and directly touching the community through various programs such as PKK and Posyandu.
"Women must be active in carrying out their functions as mothers, both at home and in society. We must ensure that women's and children's rights are fulfilled, including in the fields of education and economy. In Bekasi Regency, there is also a PEKKA (Women Heads of Families) group that is also empowered," she explained.
By strengthening the capacity of women's organizations, such as the PKK and other women's organizations, local governments also organize training and empowerment programs to ensure that women have access to skills and economic independence, and do not feel alone when facing challenges.
Ani Gustini also emphasized that the commemoration of Kartini Day is not just a symbolic ceremony, but a reflective moment to strengthen the strategic role of women in development. Through collaboration between the government, women's organizations, and the community, it is hoped that women in Bekasi Regency can continue to be empowered, have economic independence, and become agents of change in their families and environments. The spirit of Kartini is also expected to continue to be an inspiration in realizing fair and sustainable regional development.
