PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City-level Heroes' Day Commemoration Ceremony took place at the City Hall Plaza, Sunday, November 10, 2024.

On this occasion, the Acting Mayor of Bandung, A. Koswara, who read the speech of the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs, invited all elements of society to emulate the values of heroism in building the City of Bandung into a sustainable, advanced city.

This, said Koswara, is in line with the theme of Heroes' Day 2024, namely Emulate Your Heroes, Love Your Country.

"We should be grateful because the Indonesian archipelago has given birth to many heroes," he said.

"Emulate your heroes, meaning that all thoughts and actions must always be inspired by the spirit of heroism. Meanwhile, love for your country means that whatever form of devotion we take, we must make a meaningful contribution to the progress of the Indonesian nation," he said discussing the theme of Heroes' Day 2024.

Koswara added, each era will have different challenges, opportunities, strengths, and limitations. When in the past the implementation of heroism was with the spirit of breaking down and destroying the colonialist colonialist structure, now its implementation is to destroy the culture and structure of poverty and ignorance that are the roots of social times in Indonesia.

He reminded that the spirit of heroism must spread to the spirit of building, creating prosperity for society and realizing lifelong social protection, realizing social and inclusive welfare for people everywhere.

"The progress of a nation is not only measured by its ability to pursue economic growth, but the progress of a nation is also measured by its ability to manage social problems," he said.

In closing, he hopes that the commemoration of Heroes' Day from year to year is not just a birthday repeating what is routinely done. But there will be a new spirit and figures of Indonesian citizens who have succeeded in issuing innovations to implement heroic values according to current challenges.

"Never get tired of doing good, emulating and inheriting heroic values. Let us implement heroic traits and social solidarity in society. Starting from ourselves, starting from the smallest things that can be done around us for the benefit of society," said Koswara.
