Tri Suci Vesak Day 2568 BE, Momentum to Strengthen Harmony and Tolerance in the City of Bandung

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Ahead of the celebration of the Tri Suci Vesak Day 2568 BE (Buddhist Era) on Thursday 23 May 2024, Acting Mayor of Bandung Bambang Tirtoyuliono greeted Buddhists at the Bandung City Hall, Monday (20/5/2024).

Bambang said that this momentum was an opportunity for deep spiritual reflection for Buddhists, as well as an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood and tolerance between religious communities in the city of Bandung.

He invited all people to interpret this celebration with full compassion and inner balance.

"This meaning applies not only to Buddhists, but also to all society. Tolerance is the key to a peaceful life," he said.

On this occasion, Bambang also reminded the importance of awareness of diversity in order to create a Bandung that is safe, beautiful and conducive.

"Let's reflect together and commit to ensuring that Buddha's teachings about tolerance can be applied in everyday life. Let's create a safe, beautiful and conducive atmosphere," he said.

Representative of the Bandung City Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB), Ubaidillah H, reminded the importance of awareness of diversity in creating harmony and happiness.

"I hope that this spirit can continue to be maintained and strengthened, not only for Buddhists, but for all residents of the city of Bandung," he said.

Buddhist representative Sartiman emphasized that religious moderation and tolerance are important.

"Support from the Bandung City Government, especially FKUB, in building religious moderation is very important. Harmony is the main prerequisite for harmonious and prosperous development," he said.

He also appreciated the reception from the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) which was always warm every time before the celebration of a religious holiday.

"Thank you, Bandung City Government, every time we approach a big holiday celebration, we are always welcomed by the people of Bandung City," he said.

According to him, this reflects the strong spirit of togetherness and commitment to diversity in the city of Bandung.
