PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government paid tribute and appreciation to veterans in the 77th commemoration of National Veterans Day in 2026. The commemoration was held in a series of Morning Roll Calls at the Bandung City Hall Plaza, Monday (10/8/2026).

The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the struggle of the members of the Indonesian Veterans Legion (LVRI) who have provided service to the nation and state.

"On behalf of the Bandung City Government, we express our deepest appreciation and gratitude for the hard work shown by the members of the Indonesian Veterans Legion," said Farhan.

According to him, the veterans' struggle is not only an important part of Indonesia's history of independence, but also provides an example that is still relevant for the current generation.

Farhan said that courage, unity, discipline, and devotion were important values demonstrated by the fighters and should be learned by all members of society.

"We pay tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives, minds, and even their souls for the sake of independence and for the sake of Indonesia's independence," he said.

He believes that these values must continue to be passed on to the younger generation so that the spirit of struggle does not stop at the momentum of the Veterans Day commemoration alone.

"The values of courage, unity, discipline, and devotion demonstrated by the Veteran Legion. We truly have much to learn from these fighters," said Farhan.

On that occasion, Farhan also mentioned the importance of the involvement of all elements of society in the development of Bandung City.

According to him, building a city is not only the government's responsibility, but requires active contributions from the community, organizations, the business world, and social groups.

He invited all levels of the Bandung City Government to make every task a form of service to the community.

"Together, we are determined to make every task an opportunity to serve, every collaboration a strength to solve problems, and every step a part of the effort to advance the city of Bandung," he said.

Farhan hopes that the spirit of service inherited from veterans can inspire all government officials and the public in carrying out their respective responsibilities.

The commemoration of National Veterans Day serves as a reminder that the independence we enjoy today was born from a long struggle that required sacrifice.

Therefore, according to Farhan, the current generation has a responsibility to continue this struggle through real work, public service, unity, and contribution to development.
