PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. SUMEDANG - West Java Province Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman was the main speaker at the 2024 Regional Broadcasting Day (Harsiarda) activities at the FIKOM Postgraduate Auditorium, Padjadjaran University (Unpad) Jatinangor, Sumedang Regency, Monday (3/6/2024).

Herman said that broadcasting institutions have a big influence in shaping public opinion. Through broadcasting institutions, information can be disseminated quickly and reach a wide audience.

He hopes that broadcasting institutions in West Java can encourage the achievement of community welfare.

One way is by broadcasting quality content so that it can provide useful knowledge and can further improve people's literacy.

"For example, being literate in handling stunting, unemployment, how to mitigate disasters, reducing poverty. This is a matter of knowledge so efforts must be made to increase literacy," said Herman Suryatman.

Broadcasting institutions can also collaborate with universities to obtain scientific-based information or with the government to create content that is in line with the government's policy direction in increasing public literacy.

"We are designing a policy so that our frequencies are the same. In the end, the welfare of the community. (Broadcasting institutions) have one voice with the government in achieving development targets," said Herman.

He further added that broadcasting institutions must move concretely and create more substantive broadcast content.

According to him, broadcasting institutions are strategic institutions for disseminating various understandings and knowledge so that people can help their own lives so that they can be independent, independent and form a civil society.

"Regional Broadcasting Day is certainly not formalistic, but it is substantive, how KPID encourages broadcasting institutions to take part more optimally in order to improve the welfare of society," said Herman.

"We from the government are ready to support through the Communications and Information Service and of course KPID friends who are at the front in monitoring, preparing regulations, working together to ensure that all broadcasting institutions can perform better, especially focusing on helping various priority agendas in West Java," he said.

"We also urge that in the future the broadcast content will be of higher quality for the welfare of the community," concluded Herman.
