PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government welcomes Garuda Indonesia flights back to Husein Sastranegara International Airport to facilitate citizen mobility.
The inaugural flight of the Denpasar-Bandung and Bandung-Denpasar routes took place on (14/8/2026) and received an enthusiastic welcome from passengers.
Passenger from Bandung, Santi, said she was able to fly directly from Bali again after three to four years of traveling via Jakarta.
"I'm so happy. We've been going back for three, maybe four years, every time we go home via Jakarta. Now we can go to Bandung again. I'm so happy," said Santi.
According to him, direct flights reduce travel time because passengers do not need to continue their journey by land from Jakarta.
"If I go to Jakarta, I'll be completely exhausted by the time I get home. I can't travel much. So with this flight, I can go straight home," he said.
Santi hopes that Husein Sastranegara International Airport will once again have more routes and flight schedules to serve residents.
"The hope for Husein Airport is that parking will return to how it was before, it will be busy again, there will be more flights, there will be flights everywhere, and there will be plenty of hours," he said.
Another passenger, Diajeng, said the direct flight from Bandung to Bali made the trip faster and more practical.
"From Bandung, from Dago. So it's much faster. Previously, we had to go to Jakarta. Now it's in Bandung, more practical and faster," said Diajeng.
Diajeng assessed that the flight fares were quite affordable due to promotions, while flights from Bandung saved on land transportation costs to Jakarta.
"The prices are still the same because of the promotion. We get almost the same price as from Jakarta. It's just more convenient, there's no transportation cost to Jakarta," he said.
He hopes that flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport will continue to grow with the addition of routes to more cities.
"Hopefully there will be more to other places," he said.
Diajeng also hopes that supporting facilities, especially parking areas and access to the airport, will continue to be improved in line with increasing flight activity.
"The parking lot could also be bigger. Getting here is a bit difficult, with a narrow road. Hopefully, it can be bigger and easier in the future," he said.
Passengers from Bali, Tari, also experienced the comfort of Husein Sastranegara International Airport after it resumed active flight operations.
"I actually had it before when Husein was still a long way off, but now the impression has become really good, and it's more comfortable too," said Tari.
Tari hopes that direct connectivity between Bali and Bandung will be strengthened by increasing flight frequencies and routes with affordable fares.
"We hope there will be more direct flights from Bali to Bandung, and the prices will be affordable now. Hopefully, they remain affordable," he said.
