PORTALJABAR, DEPOK CITY - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi attended a simple mass wedding ceremony at the KUA Pusaka, Bojongsari District, Depok City, Tuesday (21/4/2026).
KDM--his nickname, on this occasion also witnessed the five couples who were married.
"Congratulations to the prospective husbands, don't ever hurt your wives," said KDM firmly.
The couple Faza Febrianto and Dian Fauzi expressed their happiness and did not expect that their wedding day would be attended in person by the Governor of West Java.
"We're happy and didn't expect our wedding to be witnessed by the governor and mayor. It will be a beautiful memory for us," said Faza, a Pamulang resident.
He claimed that all wedding expenses were covered, with only a dowry of a two-gram ring.
"The wedding money that we both collected will be saved, hopefully it can be used as business capital," he said.
Another couple, Sailan and Nurul Ramadhani, hope that this simple marriage program will become a flagship program that will be continued by the governor.
"It's a blessing for us, and we're proud to be witnessed by Mr. KDM. Please continue the program, sir," said Sailan, a cassava tape seller. He gave a one-gram gold ring as a dowry.
On that occasion, each couple received a washing machine and refrigerator from Bank BJB, while Governor KDM gave a two-night stay at a star-rated hotel.
Bank bjb also provides savings for house down payments of IDR 5 million and an additional IDR 2 million from the mayor of Depok.
"Savings cannot be spent on a down payment for a house, but can be used for renovations for those who already own a house. Those whose houses are uninhabitable will receive Rp 20 million in assistance from the Ministry of PKP," said KDM.
He emphasized that there's no need to force yourself into marriage by going into debt, especially since West Java is the country with the highest number of people caught in online loan scams.
"After getting married, I had no debt, and instead saved up enough to buy a house," he added.
Environmentally Friendly KUA
KDM also participated in the inauguration of the Bojongsari KUA which has an environmentally friendly building concept (green building).
The Head of the Bojongsari Religious Affairs Office (KUA) in Depok City, Saiful Millah, expressed his gratitude for the attention of the Ministry of Religion and the KDM who came specifically to witness the simple mass wedding and to see the condition of the KUA which was quite representative as a location for the marriage contract.
"We are certainly proud to be able to provide a wedding venue at the KUA office with an attractive green building concept, ensuring the bride and groom are not disappointed. Especially now that the governor is visiting in person," he explained.
He said that since the renovation of the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), public interest in getting married there has increased. The beautifully designed rooms, along with the wedding ceremony area and minimalist dais, are less of a disappointment for prospective brides and grooms.
There's also a courtyard and a small hall that can be used for simple receptions. In March 2026 alone, he said, approximately 35 percent of couples applying for weddings in his area chose to have their weddings held at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA).
"Marriage is not a momentary event but a long-term event, so it would be better if the wedding costs were simple and the money was used for a better future. We at the KUA have prepared a good wedding location," he said.
Jajang Ridwan, Head of the Sub-Directorate of Facilities and Infrastructure for KUA at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, added that all KUA will be renovated with an environmentally friendly building concept and be as comfortable as possible for prospective brides and grooms holding their marriage ceremonies at KUA.
"This is the government's way of maximizing wedding services at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). Please use it for the benefit of the public. The Ministry will continue to add green buildings to the KUA, one of which will be the Excellent KUA in Cianjur. We will provide the most comprehensive services. We will have a beautiful wedding ceremony room and a reception hall," said Jajang.
