PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - A hobby that initially only filled her free time led Anisa Rina Febriyanti to become a chess athlete who will represent West Java at the 2026 National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) for Special Education.

The ninth-grade student at Pelita Adinda Special Needs School in Bandung City won first place in the chess competition at the West Java Special Education National Sports Week (O2SN). This achievement earned her a place as one of West Java's representatives at the national level.

Anisa admitted that she first learned about chess about three years ago. However, she only started practicing seriously in the last two years.

"Initially, it was just to pass the time. I was introduced to chess about three years ago, but I only started focusing on practicing it in the last two years," Anisa said after receiving her medal at the Ki Hajar Dewantara Hall, West Java Education Office, on Wednesday (June 24, 2026).

For this achievement, Anisa expressed her gratitude and thanks to her parents, teachers, and coaches who have supported and guided her.

"I dedicate most of all to my parents, teachers, and coaches who have always supported and guided me," he said.

As the first place winner, Anisa will strengthen the West Java contingent at the National Special Education O2SN which is scheduled to take place on September 7–12, 2026.

He admitted that he was ready to face the national competition and was optimistic that he could provide the best results for West Java.

"God willing, I am ready and optimistic," he concluded.
