PORTALJABAR, CIAMIS REGENCY - The spirit of scouting is once again reverberating in Ciamis Regency. The 27th Ciradyka Hiking Rally (HRCD) of SMA Negeri 1 Ciamis provides an opportunity for young people to test their abilities and gauge the extent to which the training process has shaped character, discipline, and concern for others.

This scouting activity also received appreciation from the Ciamis Regency Government. The Regional Secretary of Ciamis Regency, Andang Firman Triyadi, was present to witness and provide support for the activity, which serves as a platform for developing the younger generation.

The event, which took place on Saturday (August 29, 2026), received praise from the Head of the Ciamis Regency Scout Movement Branch Office (Kwarcab), H. Nanang Permana. He considered HRCD XXXVII an extraordinary event that provided a positive experience for the participants.

"This is an extraordinary activity. We would like to thank the coaches who have provided guidance and space for the students to continue to develop," said H. Nanang Permana.

He believes this year's HRCD is unique because it incorporates cultural elements into its activities. This is considered a form of creativity worthy of appreciation, as scouting isn't just about skill and dexterity; it can also serve as a medium for introducing and instilling a love for national culture.

"I see something different this time, a cultural touch. This is excellent creativity. I'm very proud and, of course, I fully support HRCD, Ciung Wanara, and Diyah Pitaloka," he said.

He emphasized that the activity should be viewed as a competition, not a contest. This distinction is crucial to understand so that all participants do not view the final result as the sole measure of success.

In the competition, he continued, the most important thing is how participants are able to show the results of the training process they have carried out so far.

"This is a race, not a match. I urge everyone to remain united and stand united," he stressed.

H. Nanang explained that competitions in scouting activities are essentially a means of measuring the impact and effectiveness of the training undertaken. Thus, every challenge faced by participants can serve as evaluation material for future skill improvement.

More than just pursuing achievements, HRCD also has a bigger goal, namely to grow and shape the character of the younger generation.

According to him, the character built through the Scout Movement is a character that is able to encourage someone to care about and help others, have a sense of responsibility, and grow into a person who respects his nation and country.

"This is to cultivate and shape character. Character that is able to help others, character that is able to respect one's nation and country," he said.

This message is in line with the spirit of the Ciamis Regency Government in encouraging the birth of a young generation that is not only superior in knowledge, but also has integrity, independence, social concern, love for culture and a spirit of nationalism.

Outdoor activities such as HRCD provide participants with hands-on experience in learning to work together, make decisions, face challenges, maintain unity and be responsible for the group.

Moreover, the presence of cultural elements in these activities adds value in strengthening the identity of the younger generation. In a changing world, introducing students to local and national cultures is crucial to ensuring that progress doesn't cause the younger generation to lose their cultural roots.

Closing his remarks, H. Nanang Permana wished all participants a good luck in the competition. He hoped that HRCD XXXVII would be a valuable experience and a chance for them to test their abilities.

"Good luck with the competition. Let this be a chance for you guys to test your skills," he concluded.

Ultimately, HRCD XXXVII is not just about who wins. More than that, every step taken, every challenge faced, and the togetherness built are part of the journey to shape a resilient, character-driven, caring generation of young people in Ciamis who love their culture and are proud to be part of the Indonesian nation.
