PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan attended the Plenary Meeting of the West Java Provincial DPRD in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of West Java Province at the Gedung Sate Yard, Wednesday (19/8/2026) evening.

The plenary session was held as part of a series of events commemorating the 81st anniversary of West Java Province, which falls on August 19, 2026. This momentum served as a reflection on West Java's journey and an effort to strengthen the shared spirit in continuing regional development.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi outlined several achievements and challenges facing West Java, including the Human Development Index (HDI).

Dedi stated that West Java's Human Development Index (HDI) has changed nationally since 2020. In 2025, West Java ranked 15th, with an increase in the HDI that he described as the highest nationally.

According to him, increasing the HDI remains a shared responsibility, particularly as a number of districts in West Java still have relatively low HDI achievements.

"How do we achieve the Human Development Index (HDI)? Pursuing the HDI is a basic government service that must be continuously improved for districts and cities," Dedi said in his remarks.

He acknowledged that efforts to improve basic services currently face significant fiscal pressures. However, Dedi is optimistic that West Java's various development goals can still be realized through shared enthusiasm and optimism.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the West Java Provincial DPRD, Buky Wibawa, said that based on Regional Regulation Number 26 of 2010 concerning the Anniversary of West Java Province, August 19, 1945 was designated as the Anniversary of West Java Province.

This determination was based on the history of the formation of eight provinces in Indonesia by the Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence (PPKI), namely West Java, Central Java, East Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and the Lesser Sunda Islands.

Buky said that the commemoration of West Java Anniversary has several objectives, including as a form of appreciation for history and regional government actors, fostering a sense of unity and regional pride, and strengthening the community's love for West Java.

He also emphasized the West Java DPRD's commitment to providing support for good development ideas for West Java.

"We have different tasks and functions, but we are one inseparable unit," said Buky.

Separately, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan conveyed his congratulations on the 81st Anniversary of West Java Province via the Bandung City Regional Secretariat's Protocol and Leadership Communication Instagram channel.

Farhan said that 81 years has been a long journey filled with work, struggle, and enthusiasm to build West Java into a developed, prosperous, and competitive province.

As the capital of West Java Province, according to Farhan, Bandung City has a responsibility to continue contributing by strengthening public services, developing innovation, the creative economy, and inclusive and sustainable urban development.

"Every district and city in West Java has a role, potential, and strengths that complement each other," said Farhan.

Under the leadership of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, Farhan encouraged all regions to strengthen collaboration, unite their efforts, and introduce programs that provide real benefits to the community.

He also invited all West Java residents to maintain togetherness, preserve local culture and wisdom, and dare to create new breakthroughs in responding to the challenges of the times.

"Because a strong West Java is born from regions that are willing to strengthen each other," he said.

Farhan hopes that the 81st West Java Milangkala will be a momentum to move faster, work more effectively, and provide the best for West Java.

"Wilujeng Milangkala ka-81 West Java Province. Special!" he said.
