PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Bandung City held a ceremony to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the PMI in Bandung City at the yard of the PMI Bandung City Office, Thursday (17/9/2026).

This commemoration serves as a momentum to strengthen humanitarian commitment and appreciate the dedication of PMI volunteers, administrators, and partners in helping the community.

The ceremony was attended by the ranks of the Bandung City Government, elements of the TNI, administrators of the Bandung City PMI, volunteers, members of the Junior Red Cross (PMR), the Voluntary Corps (KSR) of universities, and various humanitarian partners.

The Head of the Bandung City Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Ade Koesjanto, expressed his appreciation to all parties who supported the 81st anniversary commemoration. He expressed pride in the spirit of togetherness displayed by all participants in the ceremony.

"Extraordinary, thank you for today. The 81st PMI commemoration ceremony took place so solemnly. Once again we thank you," said Ade.

On that occasion, Ade read a speech from the Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Central Committee, Jusuf Kalla. In his remarks, Kalla reminded that the PMI, founded on September 17, 1945, was born out of a passion to help communities affected by disasters and various humanitarian issues.

He believes that humanitarian values must continue to be the primary foundation of every PMI action. Therefore, he expressed his condolences to all victims of disasters across Indonesia, from the disasters in Sumatra and East Nusa Tenggara to the drought affecting several areas on Java.

"The Red Cross was founded to assist in disasters and humanitarian hardship. That is a profound sense of humanity that we must continue to uphold together," read Jusuf Kalla's message, read by Ade.

Jusuf Kalla also expressed his appreciation to all PMI administrators, volunteers, and employees throughout Indonesia who have dedicated themselves to helping the community in various emergency situations and other humanitarian situations.

He assessed that the contribution of volunteers and PMI personnel has been an important part in helping the community face various challenges, especially during disasters and emergencies.

For its 81st anniversary this year, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is carrying the theme "Caring, Moving, and Together." This theme reflects the core values that all PMI members must uphold in carrying out their humanitarian missions.

According to Jusuf Kalla, the meaning of "Care" is sensitivity to the needs of communities in need. This concern must be demonstrated through concrete actions and a swift response during disasters or emergencies.

He emphasized that speed is key to PMI's humanitarian services. Therefore, all administrators and volunteers are encouraged to arrive at affected locations as quickly as possible.

"Our guideline is six hours. Within six hours, administrators and volunteers must reach the affected area. The sooner the better. That's a manifestation of our concern," he said.

Meanwhile, the meaning of "Move" emphasizes the importance of being prepared to act and provide assistance according to community needs. Meanwhile, "Together" illustrates the importance of collaboration with the government, community organizations, the business world, and all elements of society in carrying out humanitarian missions.

"Together with the government, with other organizations, with the community, only then can we achieve better results in humanitarian services," he said.

Jusuf Kalla also expressed his appreciation for the support of PMI's various partners who have contributed to the implementation of humanitarian programs. He stated that humanitarian work cannot be done alone and requires support and mutual cooperation from various parties.

Through this 81st anniversary commemoration, the Bandung City PMI hopes that the spirit of "Caring, Moving, and Together" can continue to inspire all volunteers and the community to strengthen social solidarity and increase concern for others.

As PMI approaches 81 years of age, it is hoped that it will become more adaptive, resilient, and capable of responding to various humanitarian challenges, while also being at the forefront of providing services to communities in need.

"Happy 81st birthday, Indonesian Red Cross. Let's continue to work together for humanity," he concluded.
