PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Garut Regency Government recorded economic growth of 5.9 percent and a reduction in poverty and unemployment throughout 2025.
Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin conveyed this achievement while leading the ceremony for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at Oto Iskandar Field in Nata, August 17, 2026.
Garut's economic growth is projected to increase from 4.95 percent in 2024 to 5.9 percent in 2025 based on regional development achievements.
The Human Development Index (HDI) of Garut Regency also increased from 69.91 points to 70.57 points.
The increase in the HDI indicates improvements in development indicators that include education, health, and people's purchasing power.
The percentage of poor people fell from 9.68 percent to 9.39 percent, so that more people could escape poverty.
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) also fell from 6.96 percent to 6.54 percent throughout the measurement period.
Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita increased from Rp29.01 million to Rp31.29 million per year.
"This is evidenced by the fact that Garut Regency's economic growth in 2025 is expected to reach 5.9 percent, up from 4.95 percent the previous year," said Abdusy Syakur.
The Regent said that this achievement would be capital to continue development while improving the welfare of the people of Garut Regency.
He asked all regional elements to maintain joint work so that economic growth and development can continue to benefit the community.
Abdusy Syakur also apologized for the various shortcomings in services and development that the community still experiences.
The Garut Regency Government is opening up space for criticism and input as material for improving public services and regional development.
"However, on the other hand, I hope for support from all stakeholders in Garut Regency. We will not be able to move forward unless all elements of society strengthen their resolve and continue to foster a spirit of togetherness to advance our beloved Garut Regency," he said.
The Regent invited the community to put aside differences and maintain unity so that Garut's development can take place sustainably.
