PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Public Information Openness Index (IKIP) in 2024 increased from 2023, by 0.79 points. IKIP Jabar this year became 85.22 from 84.43 the previous year.

This achievement makes West Java ranked first in the Good category by the Central Information Commission (KI).

The score achieved by West Java was above 11 other provinces in the Good category, including Aceh (81.33), DIY (81.94), East Java (83.83), and West Kalimantan (80.97).

The information openness index is classified into four categories, namely Very Poor with an index value of (0-31), Poor (32-59), Moderate (60-79), Good (80-89), and Very Good (90-100).

"This Public Information Disclosure Index is not a contest or competition, but only captures the conditions or extent to which the implementation of public information disclosure is carried out in accordance with Law Number 14 of 2008," said Central KI Commissioner Gede Narayana in Jakarta, when reading the results of the 2024 IKIP, Thursday (17/10/2024).

According to the Head of the Central KI, Donny Yoesgiantoro, the assessment process to determine the 2024 Public Information Openness Index was carried out from March-September 2024 and is always carried out every year as a measure.

"Every year we do it to find out to what extent this information transparency is implemented by public bodies from the center to the regions. IKIP begins with input from regional and central expert informants, then it is processed, then the results are as we announce now, then later there will be an outcome or what impact is expected from this IKIP," said Donny.

In general, said Donny, the public information openness index in Indonesia is currently in the Moderate category (75.65).

"However, since 2021, the public information openness index in Indonesia has tended to continue to increase, although not significantly," he said.

Therefore, to continue to improve the public information openness index, in the launch of IKIP 2024, the Central KI also issued recommendations to the central government, ministries and institutions, as well as regional governments.

"The essence of this recommendation is asking all parties from the center to the regions to continuously support the openness of public information with budget and policy support according to their authority," concluded Donny.
