April 2024 inflation in West Java is under control

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released West Java inflation figures for April 2024 . Inflation was recorded as still under control and in line with national targets.

Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin said that inflation in West Java is still well controlled despite the large population of West Java.

"Inflation position in April 2024 for West Java, thank God, with the largest population, there is also fasting and Eid, inflation is 3.07 (yoy). Let's work even more enthusiastically for a better West Java," said Bey in Bandung City, Thursday ( 2/5/2024 ).

West Java BPS noted that in April 2024 West Java Province year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation was 3.07 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.94.

Head of West Java BPS Marsudijono said that the highest inflation was in Subang Regency at 4.31 percent with a CPI of 108.69 and the lowest occurred in Bandung City at 2.42 percent with a CPI of 106.12.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index, starting from the highest, namely the food, beverage and tobacco group at 6.41 percent.

Then the clothing and footwear group was 0.53 percent, the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group was 0.45 percent.

Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decline in the index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.30 percent.

"The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate for West Java Province in April 2024 is 0.15 percent. Meanwhile, the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate is 1.27 percent," he said.

Surplus

West Java BPS noted that West Java's trade balance in March 2024 experienced a surplus in terms of value of 2.15 billion US dollars.

This value is supported by a non-oil and gas commodity surplus of 2.40 billion US dollars. Meanwhile, the oil and gas commodity deficit was 255.41 million US dollars.

In terms of foreign trade volume, in March 2024 there was a surplus of 123.69 thousand tons, which was contributed by a non-oil and gas commodity surplus of 512.97 thousand tons. Meanwhile, the oil and gas commodity deficit was 389.29 thousand tons.

Judging from non-oil and gas trade transactions with 13 main trading partner countries, in the March 2024 period, West Java experienced a trade balance deficit with China and Taiwan worth 56.55 million US dollars, a decrease compared to the previous month's deficit of 131.59 million US dollars.

Meanwhile, non-oil and gas trade with other main countries shows a surplus. The largest trade balance surplus was with the United States reaching 505.92 million US dollars.
