Jakarta-- Garut Regent, Abdusy Syakur Amin, made a working visit to the Office of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta (22/4/2025). He was accompanied by the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Garut Regency, Didit Fajar Putradi, and the Head of the Social Service (Dinsos) of Garut Regency, Aji Sukarmaji. This visit was received directly by the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) of the Republic of Indonesia, Saifullah Yusuf.

Syakur said that this visit was carried out as a form of seriousness of the Garut Regency Government in welcoming the opportunity for the presence of the People's School in its area. This program is one of the main agendas of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

Quoting the official website of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Sekolah Rakyat is a boarding school that is completely free and is intended for children from poor families. This school will cover elementary to secondary education levels, namely elementary, middle, and high school.

"There will be provided complete facilities, adequate facilities and infrastructure, dormitories, competent teachers, food, and others. That way, there will be no more reasons not to go to school. We hope, from there will be born a great generation," said Syakur.

He also emphasized that the existence of the People's School in Garut is expected to break the chain of poverty that has tended to be passed down from generation to generation.

"With the presence of the People's School, we can break the transmission of poverty, so that the next generation does not experience similar conditions. Let's be enthusiastic together," he explained. (Garut Communication and Information Service/Fau)
