PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Halal certification is a guarantee that the products consumed have met the halal standards recognized by the authorities. With halal products can strengthen domestic and international market competition.

Acting Head of the Bandung City Trade and Industry Agency Ronny A. Nurudin revealed that a product is said to be halal if the product has been declared halal according to Islamic law. All stages of production to distribution are guaranteed to be halal.

"Halal certification is an important step to increase consumer confidence in products. This certification not only ensures the halalness of the product, but also becomes competitiveness in local and global markets," he said, Thursday (1/30/2025).

The role of halal certification is to increase consumer confidence in the product, so producers must pay attention to the importance of halal certification as an important factor in experiencing the product.

The importance of halal certification includes:

1. Provide comfort, security and safety in consuming and using products
2. Superior to competitors who do not yet have halal certification
3. Legal proof that a product or service complies with Islamic law, from the raw materials to the manufacturing process.
4. Standards for manufacturing products and services in accordance with Islamic law
5. Assisting the government and religious organizations in supervising and ensuring that marketed products and services have met applicable regulations. One of the requirements to obtain a halal label on packaging.

Reported from the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency, the requirements for halal certification include:

1. Business actors have a NIB and are included in the micro or small business scale.
2. ⁠Business actors have an account on SIHALAL
3. ⁠The product submitted is in the form of goods and is not risky.
4. ⁠The submitted product does not use hazardous materials.
5. ⁠The production process is simple and guaranteed to be free from contamination of impurities and non-halal materials.
6. ⁠Using production equipment with simple technology.
7. ⁠It has been verified as halal by the halal production process assistant.
8. ⁠Willing to complete the halal certification application documents with an independent online mechanism via SIHALAL.
