
PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, expressed his deep condolences over the incident of a fallen tree that occurred due to extreme weather in Bandung City, Friday (3/4/2026).
The incident resulted in the death of a Suzuki Carry car driver, Diding Nuryaman (45) after his vehicle was hit by a tree on Jalan Bojong Raya, Caringin area.
"On behalf of the Bandung City Government, I extend my deepest condolences to the victim's family. This incident is a shared sorrow for us all. We are deeply saddened by this unexpected turn of events," said Farhan on Saturday (April 4).
Farhan stated that extreme weather conditions characterized by heavy rain and strong winds must be a shared concern.
He appealed to all Bandung City residents to increase their vigilance, especially when carrying out outdoor activities.
"We urge the public to be more vigilant about the potential for extreme weather, especially when heavy rain and strong winds occur. Avoid taking shelter or parking vehicles under large trees or billboards that could fall," he stressed.
Furthermore, Farhan confirmed that all levels of the Bandung City Government had moved quickly in handling the situation in the field, including the evacuation process, clearing fallen tree material, and restoring affected road access.
"We ensure that all rescue and repair efforts are carried out effectively and quickly. A joint team from the Fire and Rescue Department, Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Marine and Fisheries Agency (DPKP), and other relevant agencies has been deployed to address the impact of this incident," he said.
He said that evaluations and anticipatory measures would continue to be strengthened, including monitoring the condition of trees prone to falling at several points in Bandung City to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
