PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Human Development Index (HDI) of West Java in 2024 reached 74.92, an increase of 0.68 points (0.92 percent) compared to the previous year's achievement (74.24).
BPS West Java noted that during the last 5-year period, namely 2020–2024, West Java's Human Development Index increased by an average of 0.79 percent per year.
The growth of the 2024 HDI accelerated from the previous year. All dimensions of the HDI maker increased, especially in the decent living standard dimension.
For example, the life expectancy of babies born (UHH) in 2024 is estimated to reach 75.16 years, 0.25 years longer than the UHH in 2023.
In the knowledge dimension, the Expected Years of Schooling (HLS) of the population aged 7 years and above in 2024 increased by 0.12 years (0.95 percent), from 12.68 years in 2023 to 12.80 years. Meanwhile, the Average Years of Schooling (RLS) of the population aged 25 years and above also increased by 0.04 years (0.45 percent), from 8.83 years in 2023 to 8.87 years in 2024.
Head of BPS West Java Darwis Sitorus in his press statement said that the dimension of a decent standard of living measured based on the average real expenditure per capita per year (adjusted) in 2024 was IDR 12.16 million, an increase of IDR 462 thousand (3.95 percent) compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, BPS also reported that in November 2024, there was year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in West Java Province of 1.67 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.96. The highest inflation occurred in Depok City at 1.90 percent with a CPI of 106.55 and the lowest occurred in Cirebon City at 0.85 percent with a CPI of 104.80.
The Month to Month (m-to-m) inflation rate in West Java Province in November 2024 was 0.24 percent, while the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 1.29 percent. (guh)
