PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of West Java Province held a workshop with the theme "Craft Training to Improve Family Economy".
In the activity which was filled with a workshop class with the Ruang Kegiatan group, the wives of West Java State Civil Apparatus (ASN) learned to make a number of handicraft products with economic value.
Some of the products made at this meeting include Chunky Yarn Bag, Macrame Phone Strap, Macrame Tumbler Bag, Pipe Flower Bouquet and Clay Mirror.
"This activity was held to increase insight and skills for ASN wives," said the Head of the West Java Province DWP, Yanti Krisyana Herman Suryatman at Oakwood Merdeka Bandung, Tuesday (27/8/2024).
He said, the workshop material presented was related to the skills of making creative products with economic value. In addition, the agenda of increasing literacy in economic management was also presented at this meeting.
With the provision of skills and knowledge of economic management, it is hoped that the wives of ASN in West Java will also avoid the digital economic traps that are currently rampant, such as illegal online loans (Pinjol), fake investments, and other modes.
So further, it is hoped that this activity can also be a driver of the welfare of West Java ASN families.
On the other hand, continued Yanti, the creative economy is currently one of the sectors that has quite an impact.
Based on data from the Ministry of Industry in 2023, the creative economy sector contributed around 7.8 percent of the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
"West Java Province has high potential in the creative economy sector with the contribution of West Java's creative economy GRDP reaching 20.73 percent of the national creative economy GDP," he said.
"Moreover, West Java has 27 cities/regencies with their own characteristics, so this is an attraction," he added.
So it is very profitable, so it is hoped that this opportunity can be utilized through the creativity of mothers or wives of ASN by producing creative products with economic value.
"So how can women take advantage of it, not just be spectators, how can we train our creative souls in our endeavors," he said.
On the other hand, creative work exemplified by mothers is also expected to be a role model for their children. "So that children are accustomed to seeing their mothers at work, positive activities have an impact," said Yanti.
Thus, creativity and productivity of parents also become one form of character education for their children. With the example of creative parents, a competitive generation will be formed.
Furthermore, with an entrepreneurial spirit, in the future there is an opportunity to open up employment opportunities for other people.
"We can only achieve this if we are creative, so I agree to increase activities in the economic sector that can improve the skills of its members," he said.
