PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Bandung Station has announced that West Java has now entered the rainy season, although the rainfall level is still low.

Head of BMKG Bandung Station Teguh Rahayu said that his party had sent a recommendation letter to the West Java government regarding disaster alert.

"We have issued a recommendation letter for West Java to be on alert for hydrometeorological disasters," said Ayu, on the sidelines of the 2024/2025 Hydrometeorological Disaster Preparedness Roll Call and Support for the Implementation of Simultaneous Regional Elections, which was combined with a Simulation of Handling Earthquake Disasters due to the Lembang Fault.

Ayu stated that BMKG always provides information related to weather forecasts starting from every three hours to D-7 to local governments. As well as providing early warnings of areas that will be affected.

"Hydrometeorology, especially BMKG weather forecasts, have always provided updated information from D-7, D-3 and also from 6 hours, 3 hours. Before an incident, we have issued early warnings for areas that will be affected," he explained.

Ayu also ensured that all sensor tools and dissemination in the form of WRS are fully active. The tools are installed in 33 locations throughout West Java. Likewise, the dissemination of the WRS receiver system is in all BPBDs in West Java.

"All of this equipment will provide information and record vibrations when an earthquake occurs, measuring the magnitude of the force," he concluded.
